HY Tyne Restoration

Today we are embarking on a project to preserve the vessel for future generations. This will mean some extensive repair work to rotten timbers, deck & hull seam caulking and replacement of the stem (bow) section. As part of this we will undertake significant research both as to the vessel’s history but also its design and construction.

We are therefore keen to attract volunteers to become Friends of LV 50 and help us in this task. There will be significant opportunities to learn about the vessel’s history and its use in the 19th & early 20th century. In particular as part of the planned preservation project (subject to funding) you can be trained to help us measure, record, photograph, document, archive and present the material to other interested parties.

If you are interested to participate in this exciting venture then please register your interest by contacting the Commodore – commodore@rnyc.org.uk.
