Local Information From the South Harbour it is a 15-20 min walk into the centre of Blyth. There are corner shops on the way. Taxis and car hire are available, and buses run past the road entrance to the South Harbour. Some visitors use Blyth as a base for visiting our famous attractions in the North East of England such as the World Heritage sites of Hadrian’s Wall and Durham Cathedral or the attractions of Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Garden. Newcastle upon Tyne is the nearest major city, where there is a mainline railway station and an international airport. Blyth is conveniently placed for north sea ferries operating through the Port of Tyne. If planning a visit the Visit Northumberland website is a good starting point.
