First Wednesday talk: 7th October
David Hirst – Art Along The Tyne

David Hirst, joint proprietor of Tynemouth Fine Art gallery and member of the North Shields Art Group, will take us on a journey down the River Tyne from Cherryburn, birthplace of Thomas Bewick, to the sea and up the coast to Cullercoats to show how the river and maritime environment have inspired generations of amateur and professional artists over the last 200 years.

wintrip_seascapeWith examples of original art on display David is hoping to tap the knowledge of RNYC members to help him identify some of the vessel types and dates depicted in the pictures. Equally, if you have a picture you’d like to know more about, bring it along and David will do his best to identify its provenance.

Some come on all you culture vultures and join us for a fascinating evening of art and maritime history.

7:30 pm start
