David Fraser – NER Coal Staithes Blyth Harbour

Following the demise of the coal industry, local historian David Fraser was granted special access to document and record these remarkable wooden structures which once dominated the skyline of the port of Blyth before they disappeared forever. Extensive interviews with past teemers and trimmers who worked the system further enhanced his knowledge.  Join us for a remarkable insight into how the staiths worked, the shipping they served and the working lives of those who contributed to our town’s recent industrial past.
