“Arctic to Antarctic”

A Talk with Photographs by David Scott Cowper on 7.00 pm on Thursday 18th April at HMS Calliope South Shore Road Gateshead NE8 2BE

David Scott Cowper is a local Newcastle surveyor, RNYC member and single handed navigator who has completed some seven circumnavigations of which four have been via the North West Passage across the top of Alaska. His first two were in his sailing vessel “Ocean Bound” and since then he has used the converted RNLI lifeboat “Mabel E Holland” and his latest vessel “Polar Bound”.

David has kindly agreed to talk about his adventures from “Arctic to Antarctic” in aid of The Ocean Youth Trust North. OYT North operate the Sail Training Vessel “James Cook” and take young people from all social backgrounds on voyages which can have life changing benefits for those involved. The talk will be illustrated with superb photographs giving an explorers eye view of the Arctic and Antarctic landscape etc.

This is a one off opportunity to see and hear about the exploits of one of the greatest living navigators in his own words and to ask questions about his experiences. Tickets are limited. DonÂ’t miss it!!
