RYA NE AGM and Talk

The Annual General Meeting of the RYA North East Region will be held on Tuesday 29th October 2013, starting 1930 at HMS Calliope, South Shore Road, Gateshead.

Officers. The following have given notice of their intention to stand for office:
Chairman Steve Gibbon proposed by Kielder Water SC;
Deputy Chairman Iain Robertson proposed by Royal Northumberland YC;
Secretary Neal Hill proposed by Royal Northumberland YC;
Treasurer David Wheldon proposed by Sunderland YC.

Committee. The following have given notice of their intention to stand for the committee:
Angus Corry proposed by Derwent Reservoir SC;
Barry Hughes proposed by Tees and Hartlepool YC;
Mark Lewis proposed by Scaling Dam SC;
Bruce Robinson proposed by South Shields SC;
Mike Shipway proposed by Tynemouth SC;

There have been no further nominations received.

Agenda: Welcome by the Regional chairman.
1. Apologies for absence.
2. Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on Thursday 18th October 2012.
3. Consideration of the Annual Accounts to 31st March 2013.
4. Election of Officers.
5. Election of Members of the Committee.
6. Any other business. No other business has been notified to the Secretary.

The venue for the AGM is HMS Calliope, on the south bank of the River Tyne below the Sage building.

It is situated next to the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, serviced by the main bus routes and within walking distance of Newcastle centre and Gateshead centre, Newcastle Central Station, and Gateshead Interchange.

Car parking is limited in front of Calliope, however there is a car park just to the east on South Shore Road although to access this you must come in from the east. A location map is available on the website:

After the formal meeting there will be a talk by Lucy Hodges. She is commodore of Blind Sailing and will be talking about her achievement this year as ‘B2 Class World Champion’.

Following the talk a bar will be open to give you the chance to discuss any issues you may have with members of the new Regional Officers and Committee.
