Singalong Thursdays

Des O’Meara, one of our sadly departed members, started  “Singalong Thursday” folk sessions on HY Tyne, and these continue in his memory from January 2024.

They are evenings of self made entertainment where folk who would like to sing or recite songs, poems or monologues can do so in a supportive environment and get encouragement from their peers.

It is a hard and unnerving  thing to do, to perform in front of an audience, and the ethos here is to encourage those who have the nerve, bottle and guts to do so. Its totally laid back, friendly and enlightening

We meet on 4th Thursday of each month on the saloon of the RNYC clubship, HY Tyne. Doors open from 19.00hrs. Arrive whenever, get a drink,  take a seat and either play , sing, join in or just listen.  The evening starts with the “MC” doing an opening song, then anyone willing can do their turn until we finish. All you need is your voice and or instrument.

See you there!
