Coronavirus update (5)

Thank you to all of you who have been to the Club and observed the social distancing measures required at the current time. It is not easy, but it will not last forever and so please do carry on until we are able to relax these measures further.

Facilities

The toilet facilities in the boatyard and on the Club ship will remain closed to members until further notice. We have considered various options in order to open the facilities, however the General Committee remain of the view that facilities present the greatest risk of any transmission of the virus and so will remain closed. We continue to monitor the situation and are engaging with the RYA as to best practice on when and how we can reopen the facilities. We are all aware of the pressing need to resolve this and we will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

Members are reminded that unfortunately we are still unable to stay overnight on board until we receive any further guidance from the government on this. This is also confirmed by the RYA thus reinforcing the message.

Recompense

At the virtual April General Committee meeting, the General Committee agreed that a small sub-committee would look into options regarding any potential recompense to members in light of the impact of the pandemic on use of the facilities. Any proposals regarding any potential recompense or rebate will be considered in full once we better understand the impact of the pandemic on the Club’s finances. We anticipate that this will be after the end of the year.

As ever, we continue to monitor the situation and will make adjustments as and when we can. Needless to say that we share the frustrations and concerns at this time and we are actively engaging with the RYA as to how we may make more Club facilities available in a safe way.
