Race 1
Sunday 23rd October
Race officer:
Five boats turned up for today’s racing in conditions less than perfect. Yes, five committed crews. And they should be!
North easterly wind blowing 20+ with a big lumpy sea out towards the turning mark near Meggies. Return to turn around windward mark just off ‘A’ pontoon. 5 laps for AW Pet and 4 laps the rest. The grandstand (A Pontoon) saw a few spectators brave the weather.
An hour’s exhilarating racing results as:
| Yacht | Sail Num | WS | TCF | Elapsed | Laps | Seconds | Corrected (sec) | Position |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fagin’s Express | 1 | |||||||
| Auf Wiedersehen Pet | 2 | |||||||
| Off Quay | 3 | |||||||
| Billy Whizz | 4 | |||||||
| Pintail | 5 |
A big thanks to Blyth Harbour for allowing us to race in the river, there would not have been a race otherwise. Despite having plenty of notice and help with the countdown the first boat over the line was 6 seconds late. Must do better, so to help you have from midnight tonight there are 1162800 secs till the gun on the 6th November!
