At what I can only describe as an ‘interesting’ AGM last night, may I take the opportunity to welcome two members to the Flag Officer team.
Tony Blenkinsop will take the role of Rear Commodore with responsibilities including sailing and training.
Following a majority vote during a show of hands, Karen Blenkinsop who was also nominated for a Rear Commodore post will now take over as Vice Commodore, replacing Mike Wade who has elected to stand down. Karens responsibilities will include House and Social.
My thanks to both Karen and Tony for putting themselves forward for the roles, I look forward to working with you.
May I also publicly extend a special thanks to Mike Wade for the fantastic amount of work he undertook whilst in his post. Without his efforts many projects including the rechaining of the pontoons, the replacement of the fore & aft moorings with walkways, and the installation of the new boatyard fence would never have taken place. Of course Mike was also the driving force behind the Heritage Lottery Fund bid for the preservation of our Club Ship, a project that is still ongoing in his absence.
It is the work of volunteers that enables the Club to continue in its current format and the Flag Officers are always looking for members new or old to take on tasks. Should you get the sudden desire to help out, please contact one of us. I’m sure we can find a job for you.
