Another Fantastic social evening put on by Karen and her team of Pink Ladies for our Club ‘Burns Supper’ last night, Saturday 22nd January.
Karen, along with Mandy, Sarah and Gwynneth even enlisted the help Christine who was there as a guest, preparing the traditional meal of Haggis Neaps & Tatties. With Club staff Amie & Donna serving at the tables as well as the bar, Katie ensuring the smooth running of the galley and Cath helping out with the setting up of the room, it’s been another real team effort.
Of course the team for a Burns Supper is bigger than that. Lynne reciting the Selkirk Grace followed by Clive Griffith, then Adrian and Helen Park, enlightening us with their personal views on the Scottish Bard himself, as well as some opinions on women and men in general.
All wrapped up with some Highland dancing courtesy of Gwynneth, accompanied by our guest piper for the evening, Sue Thorell.
For entering in to the spirit of the evening, Mike Swann and Iain Robertson who took part in our ‘Strictly Come Sword Dancing’ competition, and Liz Charlton and Alf Dower for being the judges, oh, and Bob Hopwood for entertaining us with one of his poems.
At a quick count that comes to 18 people actively involved in making the night what it was, and that’s not including Tony Blenkinsop who was frantically trying to make sure the running order was adhered to.
At such an event, it’s the company that makes it, and this was no exception.
Thank you to you all no matter what your involvement and for digging deep when buying raffle tickets, we raised a further £102 for the FOP Friends charity.
