Dear Member,
We have been monitoring the situation with the coronavirus pandemic. Following the government’s latest announcements and advice received, the Directors of RNYC Ltd met tonight and we have resolved to do the following in response to the outbreak:
Bar and Social
The bar, saloon and galley facilities will be closed to all members until further notice. The bathroom facilities will remain open for members to use.
All social functions will be canceled or postponed (if possible) until further notice. This includes the quiz nights, music nights, the last First Wednesday Night talk and ordinary social events.
Sailing
Unfortunately the last race of the Winter Series has been cancelled. We will keep the situation under review in advance of the Summer Series in the hope that it can go ahead as scheduled, however we will confirm this nearer the time.
Members must use their own discretion and judgement as to whether they wish to go sailing with friends or family. However, please be mindful of contact with other Club members.
Boatyard and Hoist
The boatyard remains open and available for members to use as usual.
We are working with the small team of hoist drivers and we will confirm if, how and when hoists may continue and will update the members on this in due course.
As with many organisations, we are following government guidelines in order to preserve life. Many of our members fall into the “at risk” category by virtue of their age or other underlying health issues. It is our responsibility as members of the yacht Club to ensure that we take care of each other by following the advice regarding self-isolation where appropriate and social distancing where possible. If coronavirus hits the Club the effects could be devastating and so we ask each and every member to play their part in minimising this risk. We realise that the measures that we are taking will likely have a negative impact on many of the members and we would urge you all, where possible, to keep in touch with your fellow members through these uncertain times.
We are keeping the situation under review and we will provide further updates as and when we have them.
Wishing everyone good health,
Peter
