Despite the best efforts of a number of members yesterday, being a Bank Holiday it was not possible to locate a suitably qualified electrician and the required parts in order to fully restore the supply to RNYC.
It appears that one of the 3 phases that supplies electricity to the Club has burned out at the main breaker in the meter cupboard – I don’t know how technically correct that is, but it’s how it was explained to me.
We therefore have power to some areas of the Club Ship as well as pontoons A & B using the remaining 2 phases.
The cooking appliances in the galley are not working, as well as some of the power to the bar and cellar. The pump that maintains water pressure on the pontoons is also off. Lighting in the toilets is working, but there is no hot water.
There have been suggestions as to some short term fixes, but the fact remains that whoever carries out the repair will be responsible for the integrity of the main supply to the Club and therefore needs to be in a position to provide certification as such.
At present, the first hope we have of getting the right person and the correct parts will be on Tuesday morning.
As such the Club Ship will remain closed for today, Monday 31st August.
